Although holiday (2018) season is over, many consumers are still in the gaming mode that also includes non-gamers with kids that got gaming consoles this holiday season. There is no point to debate which gaming console is the best when the target market is “kids” (age under 14). All the buzzes from 2018 since Nintendo Switch first release are all TRUE. “Nintendo Switch” now is the most popular (fastest selling) gaming console in the United States (sold more than 8.7 million consoles from March 2018 through November 2018). If you ever pay attention on the holiday gaming shopping, you would notice that whenever there is a promotion (even just a little bit) on Nintendo Switch system, you gotta be ready to jump in right away because that deal will sure to be gone in minutes. Although the system itself is much more expensive compared with Xbox One S and PS4 AND popular switch games are costly (around 60 bucks), it’s still a very good investment if you’d like to spend quality gaming time with your kids. Today we would like to list couple of reasons why you should choose Nintendo Switch consoles over Xbox One or PS consoles.
It’s Family Friendly
If you are a non-gamer first time purchasing gaming consoles, you would encounter a somewhat stupid situation when you first open your console of choice (either Xbox One or PS4) that … “there is only ONE CONTROLLER being included”. That’s right. Some of us were in that embarrassed moment when we were ready to play games with our little ones.
Compared with Xbox One or PS4, Switch system from the get-go has been the local co-op (multi-player) gaming console at its core. You can see that from its design starting with two weird looking controllers attached on the system. Together (on the system), it’s a single controller to let you play any games of your choice. Separately, one becomes two. You can use left and right controller separately and independently. It’s a super odd but innovative design. (Video of “First Look at Nintendo Switch” below)
So, just open the box, turn on the console, insert a game card (or download a digital game of your purchase), pull out controllers from your Switch system, and start having fun with your kids.
Expensive But Innovative & Best Investment Choice Games (for kids)
Most Nintendo titles (created/released by Nintendo instead of developed by other 3rd parties) are around $60 USD that does not even include some paid DLC (Download Content) or some extra packages which can be added to the game. In addition, it’s super rare to see any discounts on Nintendo titles such as “Mario Kart 8”, “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate”, “Super Mario Odyssey”, and “Mario Tennis Aces”… etc. All those MARIO games will cost you fortune to enjoy. However, since your main purpose on owning a Switch console is to spend quality gaming time with your little ones, those purchases will be many of your best family time investments ever. How so? Again, Switch system was born at the heart of better family time together. Most of Switch games are multiplayer games (you can’t say that on Xbox One or PS4 consoles since there aren’t that many games support real multiplayers mode). Also, Mario title game are all high quality games which you would appreciate how Nintendo innovates their games with their systems to provide the fun gaming environment for family time or party time.

Note: be aware of 3rd party games. Some of them are great but some of them are really going to disappoint you.
Inferior Hardware; Superior Performance
It’s true that the hardware specs on the Switch aren’t as powerful as PS4 or even Xbox One S BUT the performance is still on the TOP-NOTCH level. You would think the heavy weight title “NBA 2K19” would perform and also look badly on the 30 frames Switch system than on the 60 frames Xbox One or PS4 consoles. Surprisingly, you would rather enjoying playing those games on your Switch than on Xbox One or PS4. Sure, the details are still not as great as shown on Xbox One or PS4 but the performance and the portability that no other system can provide will give you the extreme pleasure to enjoy your time on gaming even if you aren’t with your kids.
Note: take a look at the comparison on Switch, PS4, and PC on the following video link. In some occasions, you might feel Switch is looking better than other systems.
More True On the Physical Game Side Than Other Consoles
No matter which system you choose to play, you need to have internet connection to even start getting games of your purchase
If both requires to download “ALL” contents to the system, why bother to have a physical disc at all?
No matter which system you choose to play, you need to have internet connection to even start getting games of your purchase (either physical discs or digital downloads). Yup, even if you own a physical game (disc), you will still need to insert the disc into your system (Xbox One or PS4), download all the content to your console (just like if you own a digital copy of it), and then you can start playing after you download the game to your console. The downloading process usually takes you couple of hours on the download speed at around 30M ~ 60M per second. It’s a big chunk of time waste on this front. It sounds stupid, doesn’t it? If both requires to download “ALL” contents to the system, why bother to have a physical disc at all? Well… it’s the way those consoles are nowadays. However, Nintendo Switch is much more staying on the true side of the physical copy than Xbox One or PS4 on this regard.
You don’t need to download contend to your Switch system if you own a physical copy (cartridge) on most cases.
You don’t need to download contend to your Switch system if you own a physical copy (cartridge) on most cases. Why we said on most cases? Since the SD card cartridge Nintendo Switch uses can only put 32GB games in it, games are bigger than that will need to be downloaded to Switch system. However, even if you need to download some contents on bigger games, you can already start playing once you insert of the cartridge into your Switch. Oh, by the way, you will need to have a micro SD card installed on your Switch already in order to start playing big size games because the size of those games is bigger than the capacity of the Switch system (currently 32GB internal storage).
Note: Now only NBA 2K19 needs to have a micro SD card installed in order to let you start playing. In the future, there should be more and more games having bigger size (more than 32GB) than the current Switch system. Nintendo will need to address this foreseeable issue soon.
the savings/deals/discounts (past, present, and future) on Nintendo Switch is really not that much to waste your valuable time waiting for them to happen
If you are still thinking of purchasing a gaming system but don’t know which one you should choose, you should weigh in on the family side. If you would like to spend time playing games with your kids (if you have any), Nintendo Switch for sure should be your first choice. Also, if you are looking for good deals, you can find one (a very good deal) on Walmart.com. It’s just as a good deal of any black Friday deals in the past two years. It’s about a game worth of saving since it includes two digital Nintendo titles (“Mario Tennis Aces” & “1-2-Switch” for $359.96 USD). If this deal is gone, you should still just go ahead and purchase one for you and your little ones since it is really worth the investment and the savings/deals/discounts (past, present, and future) on Nintendo Switch is really not that much to waste your valuable time waiting for them to happen. Most popular system won’t give that much of discount even if on the most consumer spending holidays.
