You would think that it’s most likely a knock-off iPhone clone or Galaxy phone clone from China. In fact, it’s a smartphone from a big name player from Taiwan. The “Asus ZenFone Max Plus M1” which was unveiled in November last year (2017) now is available in the United States on several retailer sites for less than $230 USD. How great is it to having this type of phones in the smartphone space these days? … well… it’s wonderful since most of the phones are all over $500 USD price mark whether they are mainstream top-tier players or not… it’s just absurd. We know that those phone makers just pack as many high-end components inside of the phone and charge premiums. However, the soul of a top-tier smartphone is the perfect integration between software and hardware. For instance, the iPhone X… the Galaxy phones… the Google Pixel phones… A few phone makers aren’t doing this. Their phones look great on paper but failed miserably going through the real world testings especially on the performance and cameras. So … it’s good to have a player who really pull strings to have good components (not top of lines but good enough) integrated with OS & homemade software well to serve as mainstream consumers’ daily drivers.
$229 USD as we hinted that it’s below $230 USD when most of the phones are all over $500 USD these days. If you ask how affordable is this? We will give you an example that if you wanna have an old model of Galaxy Phones … let’s say 2 years back … Galaxy 6 Edge, you would still need to spend around $250 ~ $350 on it. We know that it’s an premium phone (S6 Edge); however, after 2 years of advanced technology, “Asus ZenFone Max Plus M1” is better in a few areas already… Well… to name the most significant one – Dual Camera Settings.

You might think that you never will consider a budget phone but there is a market for this and even if you don’t think you will ever consider it… you might get it under some circumstances. For instance, you wanna give your kid a entry level smartphone but don’t wanna break your bank but also you don’t wanna give your kid a crappy smartphone (we call this type of phones – stupidphone … like most of the early days android phones from so many unknown phone makers in Asia) … then … this is that type of the phone you should consider. Or … if you are an iPhone user but just want to try out what an android phone can do but don’t wanna pay one grand to test it out… then, again, you should consider this type of smartphones since the specs are great, it’s been tested (from so many reviewers around the globe. Just do a bit research on the Youtube and you will get the testing result of it), and it’s from a reputable company.
