When most of the world is still arguing whether Apple’s FaceID solution is the best for the smartphone security mechanism or not, Vivo followed through and stick with its plan – they unveiled and released the X20 Plus UD, the world first on-screen fingerprint smartphone.
In mid last year, Vivo showed the world their roadmap of bringing the on-screen fingerprint to reality. You can watch the video below,
Everyone was skeptical about how real was that and also the timeline of the implementation. Then 6 months passed, Vivo showed the world the prototype at CES 2018 in Las Vegas last month. Still… so much hypes but the reality of getting it to the production level was still being doubted.
Now, Vivo is pushing the world first on-screen fingerprint to the market in less than a month of showing the prototype to the world. Although the X20 Plus UD is only being released in China, it’s still a very very impressive step for the smartphone industry. We shall see more and more smartphone manufacturers jump right in this pond and pick up the pieces and implementing their own on-screen fingerprint smartphones very soon. Samsung as well as LG should be the first in line to get it done since the this might be really the “NEXT BIG THING” for a long while.
